My best friend

Friends are an invaluable asset.They enhance our happiness and soothe our sorrows.They stand by us through thick or thin.According to Bacon,no one can live without a friend except a beast or a god.Bacon says that a person,who has no friend,eats up his own heart.He means to say that such a person cannot share his joys or sorrows with anyone.He says that to have a false friend is ever better than to have no friend.But that does not mean that we should make friends with bad and wicked people.Bacon is simple emphasizing the importance of friends.Otherwise,it is appreciable to avoid wicked people.

I have many friends but Ali is my best friend.He is my neighbor and class fellow.We usually study and play together.He is a talented and sharp boy.I like him for his jolly nature and witty remarks.He is very cooperative and decent fellow.He owns all the qualities of a good student.

Ali possesses the qualities of a balanced personality.He has a muscular physique and enjoys good health.He takes exercise regularly and plays football in the evening.He is the best athlete of our college.He believe that health is wealth.He is active,agile and energetic.His power and vigor are exemplary.He takes an active part in all the co-curricular activities of college.He is a good debater also.He has won many competitions of quiz and debates.In short,he is a live wire.

Ali is a religious minded also.He loves his religion more than any thing else.He observes all the Islamic principles.He says prayers five times a day.He recites the Holy Quran daily and acts upon its teachings.He takes an active part in all the religious activities.He is polite and well mannered.His behavior with others is matchless.All love him for his loving nature and warm feelings.

He is also a good social worker.He is a successful organizer and coordinator.He helps the staff of the school in arranging functions.He takes much care of others.He helps the needy and the poor.

He is well aware of the contemporary political,national and international issues.He reads the newspaper and keeps his knowledge up-to-date.His sound general knowledge has won him a respectable place.He is worthy to be the best friend.I am proud of him.

Our examination system

Education makes life worth living.A country without a proper system of education can make no progress.Only the educated and skilled people can pave the way to progress.For good education,an adequate system of examination is necessary.Unfortunately,our system of examination is not satisfactory.It is replete with faults.

The current system of education is such as tests the memory of the students.It is not a fair test of knowledge,understanding and comprehension.The questions asked in the examination are not such as may promote the inborn faculties of students.The usual practice among the students is to learn everything by heart without complete comprehension of it.This is practiced in the present system of examination.Though the students pass the examination in this way,they cannot develop their awareness greatly.

Furthermore,the method of evaluation of scripts is faulty.Every examiner has his particularly outlook,temperament and a specified way of observation.Even the atmosphere affects the mood of examiners.As a result,the assessment is somewhat personal and therefore inaccurate.Moreover,the questions asked in the examination are subjective;they cannot be awarded exact marks

In our country,the climate is of extreme kind.The examination take place usually in hot summer.The scorching heat leads to several troubles.The students cannot concentrate fully on their studies.They have to go to the examination hall in the scorching heat of summer.Moreover,our academic terms are short because of extreme weather conditions.Consequently,the students cannot read their course fully.This also adds to the difficulties of the students in the examination.

I have some suitable suggestions for the improvement of our examination system.

First,the examinations should be held in spring season so that the students may work in the pleasant weather conditions.This will enable the students to focus their attention on studies.This would also increase the length of the academic year.Second,the question papers should be set in such a way as they should be a real test of the students' knowledge and insight.

Third,the declaration of result should be prompt and quick.This will save the time of the students.Even the length of the academic term would be increased.

Fourth, the students securing outstanding positions should be awarded prizes.They should be honored with scholarships.This will increase the passion for study among the students.I hope that the government would take prompt steps in this regard.

An ideal teacher

Teaching is an well-planned presentation of facts,ideas and skills to students.And the person who does this is called a teacher.A teacher usually enjoys a noble status in society.He is considered to be a model of decent values.He bears a flawless character.He showers knowledge upon everyone.He instills great social and cultural values into humans.He works like a lighthouse.He emits bright beams of knowledge to enlighten the gloomy hearts.Briefly speaking,a teacher plays a vital role in the making of a nation.

The first quality of a teacher is that he appeals to the hearts and souls of the students.He urges them to probe into their souls.He reveals that the knowledge of self is the knowledge of God.To study "self" is really a difficult task.It requires deep devotion and great wisdom.Therefore, an ideal teacher helps his students to develop the qualities of self-knowledge,self-control and self-esteem.

An ideal teacher gives his students an artistic vision.He arouses in them a strong passion for work and knowledge.As a result,the students' imagination burns into fames .They begin to see beyond the bounds of heaven and earth.They become keen to see the unseen.They become eager to discover the hidden treasures of knowledge.

An ideal teacher must be a paragon of beauty that gives pleasure to the senses.A teacher without forceful personality and decent manners is just like a barren land.Education without good moral values is like a dry fountain.Therefore a teacher must bear a good moral character.He must be a model for his students.They would certainly follow his habits and manners.

An ideal teacher must have full command of his subject.He must have a thorough knowledge and core skills of imparting knowledge.Effective communication is the lifeblood of teaching profession.The teacher must convey his feelings,ideas and thoughts to his students effectively.A free-flowing discussion,a simple speech and a logical presentation of ideas are the vital factors that make communication forceful.And an ideal teacher must possess all these attributes.Pliny the Younger,a Roman politician and writer says:"The living voice is that which sways the soul."

Briefly speaking,a teacher must use great teaching techniques.He must prepare a well-organized lesson plan.He must arrange tutorial groups.He must make his students leading sportsmen,useful citizens and great scholars.I end this article with the words of Henry Adams:"A teacher affects eternity;he can never tell where his influence stops."

Horrors of war

War is an armed conflict between to or more states.When such conflicts assume global proportions,they are known as world wars.War between different parts or factions of the same nation is called civil war.

After analyzing the whole industry of war.It can plainly be said that war had always been full of horrors.It ever resulted in death,devastation, and disease.Even then when warriors used to fight face to face,the destruction of war was dreadful.People were slaughtered or wounded.The after effects of war were even more horrible.

The world of today is the world of science and technology.Man has invented and discovered astonishing instruments and tools to make life comfortable and secure.But,paradoxically,he has also invented most deadly weapons for his total extinction.Now many countries of the world possess nuclear warheads,germ warfare, and chemical bomb.

The world has become a global village.Now the various countries are linked together economically,socially and politically.If a war breaks out,the other countries cannot be neutral.They will have to intervene for their own benefits.If this happens,any war would be a world war.

War is,in fact,man's massacre on a massive scale.Death falls from firmament or erupts from earth.It spares no one.The innocents expire,the soldiers suffer, and the population perishes.Starvation and fatality are the ultimate upshot of war.War leads to tears and fears.

War brings about irreparable devastation of material assets.Property is wrecked.Buildings are ruined.Skyscrapers plazas,huge factories,roads,hospitals,houses,garden,crops,railways,runways,markets,art galleries all are changed into debris.

War is also the worst foe of culture and civilization.Cultural assets,splendid paintings,matchless manuscripts,unique historical heritage and priceless antiques,all are demolished.War extinguishes beauty,smothers morality and razes reason.Man behaves like animals.The paragon of beauty,the crown of the universe is burnt into ashes.

War is human folly.Let the world think about it.They must take solid and sincere steps to stop war.No problem can be solved by war.Let the world come to the table of negotiation for the settlement of their disputes.The UNO must realize its duty and be earnest in its efforts to resolve the disputes among different nations.

Terrorism

Terrorism is the most horrible threat of today.It has become a global problem.The whole world is facing the horrible consequences of terrorism.The causes of terrorism are varied and diverse.International terrorism is present in various forms.Bomb blast,hijacking,cross boarder terrorist activities and massacre on a massive scale are the familiar forms of terrorism.The main motive of international terrorism is to weaken a country politically,socially,economically and administratively.Though much effort is in progress to eliminate terrorism from society,it cannot be rooted out until some international laws of justice are devised.Whenever and wherever,there is brutality,injustice,wrongs and intolerance,terrorism cannot be eradicated.

As far as problem in Pakistan is concerned,it has main three causes:terrorist activities of international terrorist organizations,i.e.Black Water,RAW,MOSSAD,etc. injustice and sectarianism.Our chronic enemy India has always triggered troubles for us on national and international levels.To prevent us from providing the Kashmiris with moral support in their struggle for independence,India often sends her terrorists to our country to play havoc,She is dreaming of becoming an absolute authority of Asia.Hindu fundamentalists cannot endure the existence of any religion and culture other than Hinduism.The minorities in India have always been sued and slaughtered.The Indian armed forces are trying their utmost to crush the freedom fighters who are struggling for independence and their right of self determination.

Secondly,the denial of justice from police and other concerned officers presses the innocent people to be terrorists.When innocent people are treated cruelly without any grave offense on their part,they become terrorists for revenge.The main problem of our country is the delay in social justice.

Some terrorist activities are due to sectarianism.There are many religious cults in Pakistan.They are poles apart in their religious views.Often their convictions are contrary to each other.The open observance of their religious sentiments and speeches against the other sects initiate religious intolerance.This leads to violent clashes between them.

All these acts of terrorism can be stopped by proper planning.I suggest the following steps to eradicate this evil from society.

First,solid steps should be taken to eliminate the illegal foreign entry.Second,justice should be ensured.Third,action should be taken against corrupt and cruel officers.Honest and earnest officers should be appointed.Fourth,religious tolerance should be prompted.These steps may eradicate terrorism from society.

Freedom is the right of individuals to act as they choose.Our freedom is taken away from us though when terrorism strikes.Terrorism implants fear in to the minds of all and disrupts our everybody actions.On September 11,2001 a tragedy occurred in New York City,at the World Trade Center.Two hijacked airplanes were flown straight into the twin towers killing over 6000 people and injuring the minds of all Americans.After the attacks,various freedoms were taken from us.For example,the freedom of flying in an airplane without fearing it being hijacked,opening a letter in the mail without the fear of it having anthrax in it, and the simple freedom of taking the a tour through the White house because it was temporarily shut down to tourists after the attacks.If we cannot put a stop to terrorism then the lives that we lead will be stricken with the fear of not knowing if we are safe to fly in a plane or take a ride in a bus.Terrorists have many different tactics they can use including murder,kidnapping,hijacking, and bombings in which their goal is to almost achieve a political purpose.So we will have to be brave and ready to fight against terrorism.
