My first day at college

Sweet memories are like the sweet flowers. They become a source of happiness in the depressing drama of life. Usually,hard experiences teach us wisdom. The person who learns nothing from the dark past should expect nothing from the bright future. Though the memory of my first day at college is a bit better,it is shining in my mind's eye like the smiling tears.

my first day at college is an important event of my life. To me it is an unforgettable day. During my school days. I had a glimpse of college life from my elder brothers and sisters. I was most curiously awaiting the day when I would start my college life. I thought that the college life would offer me a free life; here restrictions would be few and threat of teachers would be little. At last the longed for day came in.

I was admitted to the government college of my city. I entered the college premises with new hopes and aspirations. I was glad to see that the college presented a new sight. It was quite different from what I had seen in and around our school. I came across many unknown faces.

I had some very strange experiences on the first day of my college life. I was baffled to see students playing indoor and outdoor games and enjoying radio programs during class-hours. There is no restriction of uniform. I observed that the students are free in their movements. They can do things according to their choice.

It was a sunny day of spring.I with my friends went to the college for the first time. We were excited and eager for learning. Still we were a furlong away from our college when a group of horrified student told us that some senior students were waiting for us to make the first year fools. We began to tremble with fear. We turned pale. We could not utter a word.

They told us that the seniors wanted to adorn the students of first year with different colors,rags and the wreaths of old shoes. Our blooming faces fell down as the blooming flowers scatter in a heavy rain. Eventually,the president of the college union appeared there like a sudden wave of grace. We told him our problem. He smiled and encouraged us to face the situation. However,he helped us and escorted us to the gate of the college. He asked the other students not to harass us. We became happy to be safe so nicely. We came to the play ground. The naughty senior students reached there. They began to make us first year fool. We reminded them of the advice of the president of the college union. They laughed and asked me to put on a tattered shirt. I did so. They displayed a placard at the chest of my friend. The word"scarecrow" was written on it. A boy with a wreath of old shoes advanced to a friend of mine. He observing the situation minutely ran in one direction. Some boys ran after him. We took advantage of the situation and ran in the opposite direction. Some boys ran after us. To our bad luck our path ended at the verge of a field soggy with the recent irrigation. We hesitated a moment but horrified by the chasing party,we jumped onto the sodden field. The senior students stopped at the brink and laughed loudly to see us in this crisis. We were however relaxed to be away from the grave risk. How we reached our houses is another story to be told. It is how i spent my first day at college

My hobby

Hobby is something that we do for joy and delight.We live in the world of struggle and effort.Man has to toil the whole day for his survival.He usually get tired of this labor.He needs some pleasant activity to lessen the burden of this boredom.Such an activity is called a hobby.Different people adopt different hobbies for this purpose.Though I do many things at spare time,the thing that attracts me most is gardening."God himself first planted a garden.And it is the purest of human pleasures",says f.Bacon.Therefore,this hobby is a source of joy and pleasure for me.

I live in a big city where life is very mechanical and noisy.In the city,there is no place for real peace and calm.Therefore,I have made a lawn in front and a garden at the back of my house.In the garden,there are many kinds of trees.Many kinds of flowers also bloom in the garden.These flowers show different shades of colors.They give off sweet smell and present a beautiful view.Green trees,grassy lawn,flowers of various colors and front wall covered with green mistletoe add to the beauty of my house.The fluttering leaves and the dancing branches of the trees attract the viewers.

One feels happy when one hears the songs of the birds sitting in the branches of these trees.A fountain plays in the middle of this garden.When it sprinkles its shower,it looks charming.I have also displayed some twinkling lights on the branches of these trees.At night,when these lights twinkle,they present an eye-catching view.The clean grass of the lawn also looks wonderful.In the morning,when I walk on the grass wet with due drops,I feel fresh and happy.When these dew drops shine in the sunshine,they look like pearls.

I daily devote some of my time for the maintenance of my garden.I dig the beds of flowers,trim the grass and apply manure to the plants.Sometime,I whitewash the trunks of the trees,spray the plants and prune the rose plants.I love to work and sit in my garden and lawn.My garden is a source of peace and joy for me.I have also advised my friends to prepare such gardens in their houses.Some of my friends have accepted my proposal and have grown plants in the lawns of their houses also.I sometimes go there to advise and help them in the growth and maintenance of their gardens.I also participate actively in the plantation scheme of the government every year.I have planted hundreds of trees at different places throughout the city.After planting these trees ,I also take care of them.

I plough the garden once a week or whenever required.I pull out weeds and waste grass to make it look attractive. My father keeps a check to put sufficient manure to it.I have placed beautiful roses and flowers of various breeds.Last week I have also shown vegetables seeds into the garden which will take time to grow big.

To keep my flowers away from the reach of naughty children and cattle, I have kept a big fence around by garden. As my garden has sufficient space, two weeks ago I had decided to divide it into 2 equal parts. In one part there are roses and flowers like the champa, the hasnahena, the bakul, the kabari, sun flower, night queen and the jasmine. In the monsoon season when the flowers are in their full bloom they look like a countless stars in the sky.

Every flower has its own charm, color and fragility and its own sweet fragrance. While on the other part of the garden I have sown various vegetable seeds. The vegetable plants are still baby plants and will take time to grow big.

I make the soil loose and weeds out if required and water the plants regularly. Working out for my garden regularly has made me energetic and healthy. I hope in the coming future my garden is going to save a lot of family expenses for vegetables. My garden is a big source of joy and pleasure to my entire family.

Television is a wonderful invention of modern age.It has revolutionized the entire society and brought many changes in our social life.It was introduced in pakistan in 1964.

Television plays an important role in national life as it affects the ideas and behaviors of all kinds of people.Tv has a number of uses.Whether it is rain or sunshine,hot or cold outside,we can enjoy the television programs just as we can watch films and dramas.Thus,television makes us forget our worries for some time.Television presents programs of information.The most important of these is the television news.We listen to the news with great interest and get the latest news from all concerns of the world.

Television can be used to teach uneducated people.Educational programs of different kinds are very informative.There are discussion and lectures on science and arts subjects.For example,films on scientific inventions and developments in the advanced countries are telecast` for the viewers.There are agricultural,medical and industrial programs on tv that guide the people in their respective fields.Tv also plays an important role in economic development of the country. Tv also presents programs on national affairs.In these programs the political activities of rulers and leaders are described.The policies of the government in different fields of national life are presented and discussed.We can also view useful programs on tv concerning international affairs.They inform us about the relation,disputes and problems of different countries.There can be seen certain religious programs on tv.People viewing such programs can add to their understanding of religion.Different religious scholars are invited in specific programs.They suggest solutions for different problems in the light of religion.Specific time is allocated for the advertisements which help in the growth of industry.Colorful and attractive commercials draw the attention of the viewers who are compelled to those products. To conclude,we can say that electronic media has developed to a great extent.People can watch the transmissions of the other countries of the world through dish antinas and cable network.This thing has made tv a powerful source of entertainment.People can enjoy watching the culture,places and heritage of different countries on their tv screen.Great care,however,has to be taken in the selection and presentation of the programs as tv has an immediate and vital impact on the viewer.There should be a fine balance between entertainment and education.Excessive and immoral use of tv may spoil the immature minds.
