Our national language

<br /> OUR NATIONAL LANGUAGE<br />

Our national language should be at least two,Urdu and English,if we want to progress well.It was a mistake of vast proportions not to give English the status of a national language in our Constitution.

Urdu will be able to grow and develop if it is used together with English in all fields of national life and activity.More and more English words and terms will join Urdu in new combinations as we embrace English with a fresh passion and will.

It is argued that other advanced countries like Japan,France,Germany and Italy have their own national languages, which have caused their progress. It does not hold good at all in the case of English,as it is not foreign to us at all.

Firstly, the Urdu sentence has almost the same structure as the English sentence.Urdu is the nearest to English.Secondly,a very large number of English words are already part of Urdu, and these are commonly used by all the people.Thirdly,English is already in use in all our offices, courts, educational institutions, trading centers, hospitals, communication networks, the mass media, etc. and even in many of our homes. All our professional work in medicine, engineering, aviation(flying),building construction, imports and exports, foreign affairs, etc. depends on English. The continuation of English as a national language is our need and is in our best interests.Fourthly, everyone in the four provinces,Azad Kashmir and the northern and tribal areas can learn English at ease and in comfort.Everyone is proud of learning, and rightly so.Fifthly,English is a very convenient link language for all parts of the country,to bring them together like a loving mother,to make them work together in unity like a wise father and to bring all the knowledge and ways of the world home to them like an able teacher.English is with us to promote our provincial and regional languages, too,in the friendly company of Urdu. Its existence as a uniting and commenting force will help in the evolution or development of a common culture.

Lastly, and most importantly,English is not a foreign language.According to modern research scholars,English is an Indo-Aryan language and has deep connections with Sanskrit.Urdu,Punjabi and some other regional languages of ours come from Sanskrit.Hindi and quite a few Indian languages arise out of Sanskrit. So,all in all,English is related to and connected with our languages like the palm joined to the fingers. It is,by all standards, our national language, part of our life and culture and a sure and safe means of our progress. It should be a declared national language, together, together with Urdu, when it already is a national language for all practical purposes.

    Indiscipline in our colleges

    <br /> INDISCIPLINE IN OUR COLLEGES<br />

Indiscipline in our colleges and schools is on the increase. We can very often witness scenes of indiscipline in our classrooms, playgrounds and in the compounds or on the campuses of our institutions.Indiscipline may be in the form of making loud noises or mutual fighting or disobedience of the rules of the institution in many different ways.

First of all,the general atmosphere in our society has badly affected our educational institutions. In the past, indiscipline in one form or another has been a regular feature of our social life.Political, religious, labor and other disturbances, based on misunderstanding, has increased confusion and disorder.Disorderly public meetings, processions and strikes, under various governments, have made many people disrespectful towards the law.All these developments in society have influenced the thinking and behavior of our students. Now terrorism is the great disturber.

Very often quite a few senior politicians have behaved in a most indiscipline manner, for example,in the National and Provincial Assemblies. They have never given thought to the bad effects of their irresponsible behavior on young minds. They have even tried to use students as tools to gain their ends.

Second, overcrowding in colleges and schools is,in a great measure, responsible for indiscipline. It is not easy for the teacher to teach and control a class of eighty, hundred or even more students. He cannot attend to each student and satisfy him.

Third, the general low social status of most of our teachers makes students take them lightly. Many students, under the influence of modernity, are impressed by such things as 'power','position' or 'status.'

Fourth, teachers and students have been pulling apart for the last few years.Quite a few teachers have limited their work to classroom teaching attaching little importance to outside contacts with students. Therefore, they cannot affect the general altitudes and thoughts of their pupils.

Fifth, students have begun showing less and less of interest in studies and sports.Studies make students mentally disciplined while sports make them physically fit.

Sixth, students have been exhibiting more and more interest in politics. This has made quite a few of them attached to his political party or that. They have often learnt well the indiscipline of politics and forgotten the decencies of education.

Now,the question arises how we can put an end to all this indiscipline in our colleges and schools. The answer is quite easy.Improve the general atmosphere in society.Bring every person to respect the law.Take steps to finish overcrowding in educational institutions.Make the teacher a man of high social status:give him authority and power to control students.Bring teachers and students closer.Let the students hear what learned teachers have to say outside the classroom.Make students interested in studies and sports.Take students away from practical politics.

Students will feel satisfied and happy if they become religious in the true sense. We should have proper religious education in our schools, and should continue it in colleges according to the changed needs of the students.

We should in fact, remove the causes of indiscipline among students. Most of this essay is devoted to the description of these causes and suggestions for their removal.Let us attack the problem of student indiscipline in a systematic and scientific manner and make a bright future for students and education possible.

Unfair means or corruption in examinations

    <br /> A BRIEF ESSAY FOR BACHELOR STUDENTS<br />

The use of unfair means in examinations has been on the increase though the government has taken some positive steps, especially in the big cities,to check corruption. We have more cases of unfair means each passing year in our Board and University examinations. The reasons for corruption in examinations are many.

First of all,we find corruption in all parts of our society.Dishonesty and cheating are as common today as honesty was in olden times. Some people rightly say that we should bring all corruption in society to an end.Only then can corruption in examination be got rid of.However, there will have to be a revolution,a complete change in our thinking and action,to bring all this about.

Secondly, most of our students cannot buy suitable books or study in first-rate educational institutions.Their economic condition does not allow them to progress properly in studies. They cannot make adequate preparations for their examinations.Quite a few of them, try to make use of unfair means.

Thirdly, those who hold or conduct examinations are also responsible for corruption in examination centers.Invigilators, superintendents, and others working for as long as eight hours a day cannot earn what an expert mechanic gets for an hour of work.Able teachers and government officers at first do not like to perform the examination work. Some of them, who do come forward, begin accepting bribes from candidates to make quick money.

The ladder of corruption in examination is very high.It very strangely goes underground, too, when answer books are smuggled out of examination centers and offices for candidates to write answers. Some corrupt examiners provide such facilities of copying or accept bribes to award undeserved marks or are influenced by recommendations. At times, copying through mobile phones is facilitated.

It is at least necessary to provide high quality education to our students. There should be able and efficient teachers and proper and enough libraries for them.Special libraries and teaching and training centers should be provided to private candidates who cannot attend regular educational institutions.

Those who can afford should not provide luxuries like Internet pleasurable programs,CD and DVD players, and expensive vehicles to children.TV viewing should specially be restricted.

If our students become really able and wise, corruption in examinations will largely end.The need of the hour is action in the right direction.

    Corruption

    <br /> BEST OUTSTANDING ESSAY<br />

Corruption is the absence of honesty and virtue.Usually, the society void of law and order is a corrupt society. In such societies people do not do their duties well and try to work for their personal benefits.Corrupt people do not abide by laws and adopt evil means to get their aims. They discard morality and good manners. The society where such people are in majority is called corrupt society. These people cause many evils in society. No measures can bring good fruit unless corruption is uprooted.Corruption is a flea that sucks the blood of the nation and the country.Pitiless measures should be taken to end corruption from society for the uplift of a country.

There are many causes of corruption.Anyhow the sole cause of corruption is to get more and more riches.People think corruption a shortcut to be prosperous. They adopt different evil ways to this end.Corruption has become a fashion in almost all the fields of life.

The most obvious cause of corruption is ignorance. In Pakistan a large number of people are ignorant. They do not know their rights and duties. They show no interest in national activities because they do not understand them. They have no sense to elect honest representatives. As a result corrupt people come to throne. These representatives instead of working for the welfare of society, struggle for their own interests. They do not bother to adopt proper means to get their ends.Rather they adopt corrupt means to get their objectives. Therefore corruption prevails in society.

Poverty is another cause of corruption.Poor people when cannot fulfill their needs fall prey to corruption.Their income is too short to fulfill their needs. The person, who cannot buy food and medicine for his children, does not pay any attention to morality. He can easily be tempted to evil deeds.

The unequal distribution of wealth is another cause of corruption. In Islamic society,a tax i.i. Zakat is taken from the rich and is given to the poor.In the great days of Islam there was no one so poor as to receive Zakat. Therefore the money of Zakat was spent on the works of public welfare. Now people do not pay Zakat and alms. And that has resulted in an unequal distribution of wealth.

The following measures can help to eradicate corruption from society.First of all,the government should take solid steps for the spread of education.Secondly, the government should improve the economic condition of the country.Better economic condition would end poverty from society. In this regard, government should encourage investment. Moreover, the punishment for the corrupt people should be severe.Anti-corruption department should be made active and effective for the eradication of corruption.

    QUOTES ABOUT CORRUPTION

"Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you."
    -Friedrich Nietzsche

"Power does not corrupt.Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power."
    -John Steinbeck

"No matter how corrupt, greedy, and heartless our government, our corporations, our media, and our religious & charitable institutions may become, the music will still be wonderful."
-Kurt Vonnegut,A Man Without a Country

"Whereas it appeareth that however certain forms of government are better calculated than others to protect individuals in the free exercise of their natural rights, and are at the same time themselves better guarded against degeneracy, yet experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms, those entrusted with power have,in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny; and it is believed that the most effectual means of preventing this would be,to illuminate,as far as practicable, the minds of the people at large,....whence it becomes expedient for promoting the public happiness that those persons, whom nature hath endowed with genius and virtue, should be rendered by liberal education worthy to receive, and able to guard the sacred deposit of the rights and liberties of their fellow citizens, and that they should be called to that charge without regard to wealth, birth or accidental condition of circumstance."
    -Thomas Jefferson

    Dignity of Work

    <br /> BEST ESSAY FOR EVERYONE<br />

The universe abounds in jewels, gems, gold and other precious stuff.Man has descended from firmament to discover the secret treasures of nature. To do so,he digs into the depths of earth, explores the bottoms of seas and ascends the mighty mountains.Life is a steady struggle and fierce fight.Man must not get exhausted by the journey of his efforts. He should know that those who sweat blood to create a garden out of a wilderness are bound to succeed.

There are two facets of life I.E. Pessimism and optimism. The pessimists paint a bleak picture of life. They readily get disappointed with the prevailing darkness and abandon their efforts. On the other hand, there are the optimists who paint a rosy picture of life. They always remain hopeful and happy. They never get frustrated in the deep darkness. They burn their little candles and force the deep darkness to flee. Finally the darkness disappears and a new bright dawn greets them warmly.

It is an admitted fact that work makes a man active, agile and alert. An industrious man is always strong and sturdy.Work blesses him with zeal and zest.By working hard he gets a glorious status in society. The sweet fruit of his labor benefits not only the man but also his nation and country.Such hard working men are the real assets of a nation.

History reveals that those nations who worked their fingers to the bone were honored and successful. They emerged as victorious nations of the world. They ruled over the world as long as they remained diligent. But when they broke their habit of industry and became lethargic, they were humiliated and disgraced.

Islam lays a great stress upon diligence. The holy prophet said:"The hardworking man is friend of Allah". The holy prophet would do his work with his own hands. He disliked if someone should do his work for him.The holy life of the holy prophet reflects the dignity of work.Allah says in the Holy Quran:'nothing is for a man but the thing he struggles for."the beloved daughter of the holy prophet did her household work herself. She herself would grind flour, bring water and sweep the house. All these examples urge us to be diligent in life.

In the present era,the Muslims have lost their grace and honor. The only reason behind it is that they have forgotten the golden traditions of their forefathers. On the other hand, the western nations have adopted the habit of diligence and assiduity. That is why they are the ruling nations of this age.If the Muslims want to regain their lost glory, they have to adopt the forsaken habit of labor. Then they would be able to walk with their head erect.

Briefly speaking man cannot succeed without hard work.Struggle determines the success of failure of our plans . Diligent nations can do wonders in every sphere of life.Crowning achievements, superior status and enormous dignity could be attained through constant labor only.

    Courtesy

    <br /> BEST ESSAY "COURTESY"<br />

Courtesy means excellence of manners or polite behavior. It,of course, springs from good breeding kindness of heart. A courteous man is pleasant and polite to everybody. He observes good manner on all occasions and always respects the feelings of others.

Courtesy is the gift of treating others with warmth and respect. It means according dignity to people by being considerate, responsive, and kind in our dealings with them.

Courtesy costs nothing but pays a lot in return. a courteous person is liked and loved by all. This type of men remains very popular among his friends and relatives. Everybody have willingness to help him in the time of need. These well behaved courteous people are the foundation of good society and nation. But these days the number of these types of people is less. That is why our society is suffering a lot from ill antisocial activities. It is because courtesy create great atmosphere of living with coherence. Most of the people whom we come across everyday are generally arrogant, impatient and self centered. They neither love other nor are loved by any of them.

Your elders are the people that deserve your respect the most out of everyone and everything. It is very rude to disrespect someone, especially a teacher. When a teacher is in front of the class you should have your mouth closed and your eyes on her, giving her your full attention. It is very rude to run your mouth or do something disrespectful while she is trying to teach or explain. To have courtesy and to show respect is to be polite with good manners, considerate of others and to have good opinions of others. When you ask others to or for things you need to include the words 'may i','please' and 'thank you'.

Entering and leaving the formal functions at various times can be very rude and annoying therefore you should be seated at all times during the functions unless your required to perform and should leave your seat quietly with minimal fuss and noise. You should not be leaving early and should be waited to be asked to leave therefore showing some respect.

Some people may be strange to you but you show them the same respect you do to every other person. You should not ignore others either. In a polite way you may tell them that you are busy but not just ignoring them. If you are sitting round on the couch at home and visitor comes in,you show manners and politeness by welcoming them there and stand up to greet them not continuously sit down keep watching TV.

When people meet, they greet one another saying"good morning" or "good evening" according to the time of the day. Muslims greet one another, saying "Asslam-o-Alaikum", and they often ask about each other's health and well being. A Muslim greeting is a kind of wish,a prayer for mutual happiness, peace and security. The holy Quran lays stress on this form of greeting in Sura Al-Noor verse 61. If you know two persons who happen to be strangers,it is your duty to introduce them to each other. If both are men,you introduce the younger to the older:"please meet my elder brother...." if both are women, but one married and the other single. You introduce the latter to the former. If one is a man and the other a woman,it goes without saying that you introduce the man to the woman, and not the other way round. You pronounce both names clearly if they are males and the two persons shake hands, saying "how do you do?".

Good manners demand that you make no attempt to jump the queue. In a crowded bus,if you are physically fit,you give up your seat to an elderly person or to someone who is blind, disabled or sick. You have to say"thank you" to those who are good to you. Courtesy really makes everyday life more pleasant, more friendly and more meaningful.

    Patriotism

    <br /> BEST ESSAY "PATRIOTISM"<br />

Patriotism is a passion from which springs the love for one's country. It is but natural to love one' own homeland. No doubt,a man becomes emotionally attached to the place where he lives. So,patriotism is a natural passion.

If we analyse patriotism historically,we come to know that it is an inborn instinct. Adam(a.s) loved his first dwelling i.e paradise. Allah says in the holy Quran that the tribes and races of man have been made for the purpose of recognition only;but man began to feel pride in his tribe, family and language. Perhaps these are natural instincts. But the most dominant instinct among these is the love for one's country because it has a broader implementation. Patriotism assumes different shapes in different people. Some people love their language, nation, race or country more than others. But everyone has a tinge of patriotism in one sense or another.

As far as Islamic concept of patriotism is concerned,it regards all the Muslims as a nation. It maintains that every piece of land is the property of Allah. Every place, every country belongs to the Muslims. Thus the Muslims become a universal community. So,Islamic patriotism is the broadest and the widest in its application.

We must respect our country no matter what the circumstances are.we all are indebted towards our country because it is where we are born and brought up. Every individual has a different way to express his/her feeling of patriotism towards his/her country.

In the history many heroes has sacrificed their lives in the name of patriotism. Some of the names include Tipu Sultan,Alluri Seerharama Raju,Rana Pratap and Bhagat Singh. Patriotism should be promoted if it teaches the lesson of endurance and tolerance. But there are negative aspects associated with patriotism. Many wars have been fought in the name of patriotism. Prejudice is one of the byproducts of patriotism. Sometimes narrow-mindedness stands parallel to patriotism. The so called patriot accepts nothing except what relates to his own self. He praises his own country and all its related things even if these do not deserve so. He abhors others simply because they do not belong to his country even if they deserve to be appreciated.
In short,we should have patriotism. It is not a bad thing.but approach should always be realistic. It should be humanistic and universal. It should be unlimited and not regional. Rational patriotism is better than sentimental one.

    -Howard Zinn

"The people cannot be all,and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented,in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty...What country before ever existed a century and half without a rebellion? And what country can preserves its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance?Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two?The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."
    -Thomas Jefferson
